Should You Swim After Eating?

If you've ever been in a pool before, I'm sure you've heard the ole rumor that "you must wait 45 minutes before swimming!" and I'm here to provide you a little bit of clarity on the subject matter.

The fact of the matter is this, swimming after you eat is the same as any other activity you would choose to do directly after eating. It could upset your stomach and cause cramps! The human body needs time to digest foods before using extraneous amounts of energy.

So, swimming after you eat isn't such a bad thing, as long as you keep it light! The same goes for doing any other forms of exercise. This issue stems from the overall relaxation mentality that being around a pool brings. One of the best pool companies I know has taught me copious amounts of information about proper pool practices, service, and maintenance. It's truly amazing how much goes into swimming pools.

If you gain anything from this post at all, remember this: you can go swimming after eating, just keep it light and listen to your body! You only get one of those ya know.

Food For Thought

If you're someone who likes to drink alcohol when you're poolside, you need to be extra cautious. It only takes up to two drinks before the human body can start to feel the effects of alcohol. When it comes to swimming and drinking, your risk of drowning increases significantly. If you do mix these two things, always make sure there are others around to help you. Statistically speaking, alcohol is involved with a shocking amount of deaths by drowning. It's no secret that you shouldn't put yourself in dangerous situations at all, let alone while under the influence of alcohol.

Remember, life is all about good foods!

Summer temperatures are finally upon us and because of this everyone will be flocking towards the pools. With this, there will undoubtedly be some overlap when it comes time to feast. As you know, this blog is all about paying tributes to the god of appetite.

If you have any questions, leave them below. I'll do my best to get back to them but I stay pretty busy.
